Over the years, I've seen a lot of talented individuals never even get the slightest nod from music industry "experts" while many with a difficult to trace acquisition of talent rise to the top. As a former talent booking agent with the William Morris Agency, I've always wondered about that phenomenon. What is it that makes some individuals more prone to success in the music industry over others? I don't know that I have come to any firm conclusions, or will I ever, but one thing I have decided for sure, and that is, that those who try hard at some point usually run into some luck. You've heard the expression - those who keep at it, for the long haul and who keep trying, against all odds, usually run into some luck along the way. While that may or may not comfort many of you, nor is it one of those, "Ya that's it" answers, it's one that I trace to some reality of truth. I wish that there were some hard and fast rules that could be spit out, and some would love to sell you a bag of goods on their ideas and concepts, I will not. I will just say that beyond the music, the promo packagaing and artist presentation, with all things being somewhat equal, that there isn't a definite route to success in the industry as an artist, nor is there some 10 steps to success tell-all manual that will get you there - It's the day to day, keep at it attitude, that hopefully at some point will gain you some luck.

I feel like I keep getting the push.. but am afaid of the what if's, but my passion and undying dream is to be singing.. I would live in a studio and on the road, I can taste it, but am no where close and family tells me work on fall back stuff because it doesn't work out for everyone, but I know it would truly make me happy and that's all I want in life, to do what I love. Thanks for the piece of advice. Traci
